Breakfast Club

Welcome to Crossley Fields School Breakfast Club.

The aim of Breakfast Club is to provide a positive and settled start to the day for all children through providing a wide range of activities, incorporating learning and social development.

Activities include:

  • Computing
  • Opportunities for support with homework
  • Access to the school library (targeted reading support)
  • Outdoor physical activities
  • A range of art and craft activities
  • Puzzle-solving eg. jigsaws and Jenga
  • Board games
  • Musical activities

The aim of the club is to be informal and friendly, allowing children a choice as to how they start the day; some children like to wake up slowly, others prefer to get on and play.

The club provides quiet space (for reading, etc), a free play area, as well as more structured activities including access to ICT.

Each morning a nutritious breakfast is provided.  The children are encouraged to help themselves, sit down and talk together, and then clear up their dishes; the idea is that our breakfast replicates as far as possible the atmosphere of a family meal.  At the end of the session, the children are well fed, happy and ready to learn.

Opening Times

We are open every weekday during term time, excluding inset days from 7.45am to 8.45am.

Your child(ren) can be dropped off at any time between these times.  Children enter Breakfast Club via the door at the side of the hall. Unfortunately we are not able to serve breakfast to children arriving after 8.30am, except in exceptional circumstances.

Cost

Breakfast Club costs £5 per session, which includes a choice of breakfast and activities.

The cost remains the same regardless of the time that your child arrives, or whether or not he or she has breakfast.

Bookings

Please contact clubs@crossleyfields.com

Payment is made via the Parent Pay site.  We ask that you commit to at least one half terms sessions.

Bookings can be accepted only for children for whom an enrollment form has been completed.  If you are booking your child’s first session, then please complete an enrollment form and give it to the office prior to your child’s first session.

If you wish to cancel your booking, we require at least one week’s notice in writing.  After this time, it is still vital for you to inform us if your child is not attending the club, including illness.

Signing In

It is vital that children attending Breakfast Club are signed in.

Children in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 must be signed in by a member of staff, whereas children in Year 6 can enter independently, with prior agreement with parents.

Food

We encourage all children to eat and drink something.

Where possible, any special diets will be catered for.

We offer:

  • A choice of cereals.
  • Toast with a selection of spreads.
  • Fruit juice, milk and water.
  • A choice of fresh fruit.
  • Pancakes, waffles and crumpets

Staff

The Breakfast Club is run by permanent staff members. Mrs Esmail, Mrs Lodge, Mrs Hick, Mrs Kitson and Mrs Wray

All members of staff are DBS checked and hold appropriate qualifications in first aid, food hygiene, child and play work.

In addition, at least one member of the school staff is always on site in case of emergency.

Policies

We have a range of policies and procedures which you are welcome to come and read through at any time during our opening hours.

Communication

We aim to make each child happy and comfortable at the Breakfast Club.

You can help us by providing as much information as possible about their likes/dislikes on the enrolment forms.  Any information relevant to a particular day can be discussed briefly at drop-off.  If you have any more detailed issues that you would like to discuss with club staff, then you can arrange a mutually convenient time for a telephone call or short meeting outside of club operation times.

As you will appreciate, the Breakfast Club staff have several children to look after and cannot pass individual messages onto class teachers.  If there is something which the class teacher needs to know, then please write a note or call the school office.

In the first instance, if you should have any concerns about the way the club is being operated, please raise them with Mrs Esmail or Mrs Howard.
